In a significant achievement for Türkiye’s defense sector, the nation has surpassed $11 billion in defense and aerospace exports over the past year for the first time. This milestone underscores the burgeoning global demand for Turkish defense products and the industry’s robust growth. In June alone, the exports amounted to $802.8 million, marking a 29.6% increase from the same month in the previous year. During the first six months of the year, the exports saw a 29.5% rise compared to the same period last year, reaching $4.67 billion.
Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), highlighted the significance of this expansion, attributing it to the heightened international demand and the development of Türkiye’s defense manufacturing capabilities. He emphasized that Turkish defense systems have proven their reliability and efficiency in real-world scenarios, which has played a crucial role in fostering long-term partnerships across the globe.
Over the last twenty years, Türkiye has made a concerted effort to bolster its domestic defense industry, significantly reducing its dependence on foreign military equipment. This strategic move has positioned the country as a formidable player in the global defense market. Currently, Türkiye exports more than 230 different defense products to 185 countries, showcasing its extensive reach and influence.
The nation is not resting on its laurels; it aims to further enhance its standing in the international defense sector. Türkiye is determined to secure a spot among the world’s top 10 defense exporters, reflecting its ambitious vision for the future. This continued growth and expansion in defense exports highlight Türkiye’s evolving role as a key player in the global defense landscape.
