Ankara’s NATO Summit Success Elevates Türkiye’s Global Position, Erdoğan Reports

In the wake of the NATO Summit held on July 7–8, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that Türkiye has bolstered its standing on the international stage. The summit, which he described as a historic success, attracted world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, and underscored Türkiye’s expanding influence in global diplomacy.

Erdoğan emphasized that the gathering highlighted the consensus among NATO leaders on the necessity of removing obstacles to defense industry cooperation. Furthermore, he announced the establishment of a NATO Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence in Konya, Türkiye, marking a significant development in the nation’s defense capabilities.

The summit also featured a Defence Industry Forum, drawing nearly 1,000 participants. Erdoğan expressed optimism that this event would not only enhance Türkiye’s international reputation but also contribute to the nation’s tourism sector. He stressed the importance of these discussions in reinforcing global partnerships and Türkiye’s role in international affairs.

The Turkish president also reiterated his desire to strengthen ties with the United States, particularly aiming to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion. He affirmed Türkiye’s dedication to promoting regional peace and stability, underlining the nation’s commitment to fostering cooperative relationships.

In addition to addressing diplomatic and economic goals, Erdoğan extended condolences to Qatar following the death of its former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, highlighting Türkiye’s sensitivity to its regional partners and allies.
