Türkiye’s pioneering high school with a focus on renewable energy has earned a place in the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes, an international award that celebrates schools making significant strides in innovation, societal, and environmental contributions. Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, located in Ankara and founded in 2017, stands among the ten global finalists in the Environmental Action category.
This institution incorporates renewable energy systems directly into its curriculum, providing students with hands-on experience in working with actual energy systems and analyzing energy data. The school’s programs emphasize reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting zero-waste initiatives. A key project, the Energy Detectives Project, educates middle school students on carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. Through this initiative, students actively monitor and aim to decrease energy and water usage in their schools.
Moreover, the school has extended its environmental impact to disaster relief, having developed an energy bank designed to supply electricity to temporary shelters in the aftermath of earthquakes. This initiative highlights the school’s commitment not only to education but also to practical solutions in times of crisis.
In addition to its environmental focus, Cezeri Green Technology High School collaborates with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. The World’s Best School Prizes, hosted by T4 Education, recognize educational institutions in five distinct categories. The public can participate in the international vote for this year’s finalists, which will remain open until the end of October, reflecting the global interest in innovative educational practices.
