Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have solidified their intention to bolster bilateral relations by enhancing cooperation in critical areas such as trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This commitment was formalized during the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, which was co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations. The discussions aimed to deepen ties and explore ways to support diplomatic resolutions to international conflicts.
During the meeting, officials assessed the progress of their bilateral relations and charted plans for future collaborations. Key sectors like education, cultural exchanges, and economic development were earmarked for further cooperation. Preparations are also underway for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, signaling a mutual commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.
A major focus of the dialogue was economic collaboration, with both nations pledging to back new investment ventures and implement measures that foster business-friendly environments. They agreed on initiatives to enhance travel, employment, and educational prospects, aiming to strengthen people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Regional connectivity was a significant topic, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor as a transport route. The planned China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is intended to link to this corridor, thereby improving access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye. This initiative underscores Kyrgyzstan’s ambition to enhance its role in regional trade networks.
Security issues on both regional and global scales were also on the agenda, with a shared commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan lauded Türkiye’s mediation efforts in the region and expressed gratitude for its support in securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan outlined its intent to advocate for the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states, promoting dialogue on the global stage.
