Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged his country’s unwavering support to India following a tragic blast in its national capital that claimed eight lives. In a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Netanyahu offered deep condolences and a resolute promise of solidarity.
“Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” Netanyahu wrote, speaking for himself and his wife, Sara. He framed the attack as a failed attempt to break the nation’s will, declaring, “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls.”
The Israeli leader extolled the deep-rooted connection between the two countries. “India and Israel are ancient civilisations that stand on eternal truths,” he said. He added that this shared foundation provides an “unveiling spirit” that will ultimately triumph over such acts of violence.
The blast occurred on Monday evening near the iconic Red Fort, with a slow-moving Hyundai i20 exploding on Subhash Marg. The incident is now the subject of a high-level terrorism investigation.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case and formed a “dedicated and comprehensive” team to probe the attack. This move came after the Ministry of Home Affairs formally handed over the case, citing a clear terror angle. Authorities are reportedly investigating a Jaish-e-Mohammad module in connection with the deadly incident.
